My Camera Work: Camera Angles

Camera Angles

Camera angles is the way the cinematographer moves and places the camera to take a shot. This act gives the film more dimension, creates a different experience in each shot, and provides the emotions needed for that certain shot.

These two angles (high angle and low angle) usually go hand and hand with one another. The low angle here is a bully kicking a girl on the ground. This shows that the bully is a dominant force and aggressor in this scene. The high angle is the bully's eyesight, kicking the girl. This shows the weakness of the girl and conveys a sense of submission or weakness.

Introduction to Storyboarding: Camera Angles

Camera Angles      Camera angles is the placement of the camera, that makes the angles how it is. The cinematographer does this to make dimension and dynamic in the film so that it isn't just one flat angle, this allows for emotion to be  conveyed  through the camera. For example, low angle shows dominance and power in the film whereas high angle (the polar opposite) shows submission and weakness.
